| VERA FAIR
In Vera’s undergrad years, she was extensively involved in
serving the community in a multitude of organizations and also
worked for a AmeriCorps as a team leader and tutor for the
America Reads program. She was awarded the Chancellor’s Service
Award when she graduated from UCLA for her community
involvement. The primary focus of her community service efforts
has been toward organizations supporting educating and mentoring
underprivileged youth, because she believes that we can make a
difference in their lives by providing them with direction,
guidance, and a good education. Growing up underprivileged,
Vera personally understands how difficult it can be to succeed
when there are so many factors inhibiting these children from
achieving their full potential. She was lucky enough to have
role models who provided her with the guidance to make the right
choices in life. Financial aid and scholarships enabled her to
attend undergrad at UCLA. Since then, she has continued her
education with a MBA from USC, worked hard to achieve her dream
of buying a house in Huntington Beach by 25, and became a
manager at The Boeing Company before she turned 30. Without the
support she received, she would not be as successful as she is
today, which is why she is motivated to help, guide, and mentor
underprivileged youth. |
